Day One

Date : Wednesday 1st January 2014

Time : 2.08am

Location : o2 Academy, Glasgow

o2 Academy, Glasgow

After a 7 and a half hour drive, myself and my lovely girlfriend Hannah met up with my cousin Michael and his girlfriend Sarah, to welcome in Hogmanay at Club Noir, held at o2 Academy in Glasgow.

The promise of fire-breathers, burlesque shows, roulette tables and an extravagant balloon drop was enough to whet our appetites

Yes, there was a lone fire-breather (who performed for around 3 minutes), and the burlesque shows were ...interesting...controversial...unique.

In-fact, they were anything but unique. Each and every performance without fail followed this sequence of events.

  • Fully clothed woman swans around stage
  • Woman provocatively begins undressing infront of the on-looking crowd
  • Woman cheekily flaunts thigh.
  • Woman fully reveals thigh.
  • Woman stands on stage in nothing but sparkly underwear.
  • Process repeated for 90 minutes.

The traditional NYE countdown was nothing short of a shambles, with the suspended pit of balloons above the dancefloor failing to budge.

Carlos Airhead, however, was highly entertaining and well worth a look!

Lesson of the day - Anyone can make anything sound amazing if they want to take your money.
